How to Prompt a Tilt Reveal Shot in AI Video

Last updated: October 12, 2026

A tilt reveal starts on a detail, like boots, a hand, or the base of a building, and pivots upward to show the full subject. The camera stays in one place and only rotates, so the reveal feels controlled and deliberate.

It is a strong choice for character introductions and product reveals. In AI video, the key is to describe the starting detail clearly and to say that the camera pivots rather than rises.

When to use it

  • Character introductions that start at the feet or hands.
  • Revealing the height of a building, statue, or vehicle.
  • Fashion shots that move from shoes to the full outfit.
  • Product reveals that start on a detail and end on the whole item.

How to write the prompt

1. Start on a specific detail. Name the opening frame, like "starting on the scuffed leather boots". A concrete start makes the reveal readable.

2. Say pivot, not rise. Write that the camera stays in place and tilts upward. If you say rise or lift, many models move the whole camera like a crane.

3. End on the face or the hero element. Tell the model where the tilt stops. The final frame is the payoff of the shot.

4. Use moderate pacing. Tilts look best at a steady, unhurried speed. Too fast and the reveal loses its anticipation.

Copy-ready example

Subject: A knight in battered armor standing at the gate of a ruined castle. Generate the keyframe image first, then use it as the start frame for your video with the motion layer as the video prompt. Add the negative block wherever your tool accepts one.

Keyframe / image prompt
A knight in battered armor standing at the gate of a ruined castle. medium hero shot, subject framed from mid-torso up, heroic and commanding presence, shot on a 35mm anamorphic lens, oval bokeh, horizontal lens flares and gentle barrel character, diffused overcast softbox lighting, even flattering illumination with soft wraparound shadows, 2.39:1 cinematic anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio. Photorealistic, cinematic color grade, high dynamic range, sharp focus.
Motion / camera prompt
Camera move: smooth vertical tilt pivoting from a foreground detail upward to reveal the full subject, smooth cinematic glide, steady professional gimbal cadence. vertical framing shift, anticipation and reveal, stationary base with rotating pitch. strict frame-to-frame identity lock, subject features, wardrobe and proportions held perfectly consistent. Animate only the camera and environment, not the subject's core features.
Negative prompt & style
Negative: blurry, low quality, distorted, deformed, extra limbs, disfigured, watermark, signature, jpeg artifacts, text errors, bad anatomy, flickering, temporal inconsistency, morphing artifacts, warping, ghosting.
Style: cinematic film grain, anamorphic character, high dynamic range, professional color grade.

Common mistakes

  • Using "rise" or "lift", which turns the tilt into a crane move.
  • No defined starting detail, so the shot opens on nothing in particular.
  • Tilting past the subject into empty sky.
  • A subject that walks out of frame during the tilt.
